The best things in life generally aren't things at all, however this is one exception avast free antivirus. Everyone including web developer and web designers need to have an antivirus solution and the best free antivirus I have found for personal use is avast free antivirus.
Meanwhile on the other side on cyber existence I am constantly asked by clients what email solution do I endorse? I'm just a developer not Google itself they could have asked the beast Google..... but what sort of answer would we expect from a company that admits profiting from illegal adds  would Google also condone selling personal information gained from scanning emails from G mail users ?
Are G mail users being scammed into illegal advertising campaigns by having there email scanned by Google and then on sold to 3rd party interests?
Will Microsoft save us with Outlook.com or is this just another attempt to cleanse itself from past mistakes or the present blunder windows 8.

Bing broken

Yet again I'm sitting here in Christchurch developing another website and stopping to check if my SEO efforts are going to be rewarded with good search engine results, so instead of my normal search engine google I try Bing and low and behold Bings broken so all I get when I go to the page is this

Plop Boot Manager v5.0

Every now and then I discover a tool that’s well and truly worth adding to my toolkit. Elmar Hanlhofer's Plop boot manager is one my latest discovery’s.

Plop Boot Manager is a tiny program to boot different operating systems. The boot manager has a built-in ide cdrom and usb driver to access that hardware without the help/need of a bios. You can boot the operating systems from hard disk, floppy, CD/DVD or from USB. This is great for older hardware that doesn’t have an option to boot from usb built into the bios.

The more I poke around on Elmar's site the more I realize how important documentation is. Elmar has done a great job of documenting his development of Boot Manager a task that I find a lot of programmers forget or simply don’t do. After years of developing websites and applications I find myself coming full circle, my learning returning to the fundamentals the basics but now I see why planing and documenting are king.

Tomatoes starting to ripen

Here are some shots of the tomatoes with a 12 inch (30 CM) ruler. I'm trying put their size into perspective.

As you can see the plants are tiny. When the big ones in the back round ripen I will take some photos to show just how small these tomatoes are.  The advantages of these tomatoes is they can be grown in high wind areas and they are covered in small fruit. soon I will show you how I collect the seeds of these tomatoes so you can grow and collect your own.

The tallest plant here is about under 8 inches tall (20 CM)

Business Card Design with QR code

This is what I came up with when I was thinking about QR codes and how I might incorporate them into  my other website Matts-Myth.com and at the same time promote myself in Christchurch as a designer, developer and system engineer. To be honest to many people in Christchurch are promoting webdesign, SEO, or just other design services both on and offline, But how many of the web designers here in Christchurch are also programmers?

Well today I thought I would generate a QR code and start using it where I can.

It;'s Kinda funky looking and reminds me of something from a 1980's video game so I guess the next thing I do with it is start incorporating it into my webdesign in Christchurch, who knows how it can use this in web programming but id like to think of some custom design for a business card for instance. I haven't seen any designers use these here in Christchurch or any web developers in Christchurch but the way I look at it is that all Christchurch designers and developers should take every chance to capture the eye and that's what I'm trying to do with matts-myth.com.
